A modern twist on classic coastal transitional interior design, this Crescent Beach, Florida oceanfront home displays a contemporary kitchen and exclusive luxury bath with oceanfront views. What’s unique about this interior design by Studio M Interior Design and award-winning interior designer Marsha Faulkner is its use of eclectic materials, hand-made furniture, contemporary lighting and walnut stained cabinetry.
This project is located on the ocean in Crescent Beach, Florida. The lot is extremely high and narrow providing lots of architectural challenges. As the interior design team we were charged with blending this older, newly wed couple’s vastly different styles into one seamless home. The husband, an avid outdoorsman with a pension for lodge style. The wife with a much softer, beachy sensibility. To do this we worked together to establish some thoughtful ground rules for the main areas and used stained wood details, live edge touches and stone. Lighter walls and fabrics blend it all together. The couple had a love for sculpture and commissioned a local artist, who creates designs out of cypress trees and roots, to make a bench for their foyer and a dolphin light fixture for their main staircase. These two pieces make an impactful statement about the couple and also introduce the style of the home to a visitor.
We also worked with the couple to bring items they had collected from their travels into the home. One example of this was incorporating hand painted stone tiles they picked up on a trip to Napa for the backsplash in their wine bar. Other examples were working with a lighting artist they had met to create a custom light fixture for over the master bath tub. There were pieces of furniture inherited from both families that were blended together and we even installed a “rock climbing” wall in the grandkids room that would give them access to a built in attic area open to the bedroom below. This was a very different and fun project to work on with a very fun loving couple!
